Domain Fields (System Domains)

The Domain-type field specification overlay, shown below, displays after you select Enter from the fields screen if the Field Type you select is DOMAIN and the domain type is system.

Domain Field Specification Overlay (System Domain)

The following fields are contained on the Domain Field Specifications overlay for system Domains:

Domain Name: This field is a reference field that identifies a related field. Examples include:

The name of a domain that a field references

Group Header Through Field Name (identifies the final field in the group)

The primary field that a Synonym refers to

The primary field that a Substring belongs to

Descriptive provides a longer, more easily understood alternative to Field Name, one that is not required to be unique within an application. If blank at all default levels, Field Name is used. Refer to the definition of Descriptive in the Domain Fields section for more information.

Column Hdgs designates up to two lines of column heading text. The APPX output process facility uses this text to generate standard column heading images for Start of Page and Start of Range class frames. For cosmetic reasons, the length of headings should not exceed the length of a field itself. Refer to Standard Column Heading Image for additional information.

The Additional Attributes option accesses the Additional Attributes overlay which contains only one field:

Use Domain Documentation? Toggle the checkbox between 'yes' if you want APPX to use the documentation from the domain as Help text and 'no' if you plan to enter Help text unique to this field.
